The fourth book of the Dreamscape Warriors Series highlights Aidan's (the main character) quick thinking in a tight situation. The following outtake from Addiction of Power: Time for Peace shows Aidan's skill in Chapter 2 when Kergan (the antagonist) attacks him with his ancient warship called the Forerunner.

“We’re under attack!” Aidan shouted. “Defensive shields came up with the proximity alarm, or we’d have been in big trouble.”
Aidan lunged for his seat and froze when he saw the ship he had faced thirteen years before. He almost let loose a paint-blistering curse when he remembered his younger sister was with him. Sliding into the pilot’s chair, he felt the harness automatically lock him in. Aidan pulled hard to port when the ship took another hit. Alarms screamed for his attention.
“We’re losing hull integrity!” he shouted, putting a stronger shield toward the battleship and returning fire. “Aunt Máire, take over the weapons.”
Aidan quickly looked to ensure Tetia made it to her seat. She looked terrified and so small, strapped into the astrogator’s seat. Máire brought an x-ray laser turret around and fired.
“She’s veering off,” she reported.
“You actually did something to it?” Tetia quavered.
Máire shook her head. “I did some minor damage to the hull. She’s repositioning herself for another shot. She isn’t using her main guns. I wonder why?”
Aidan gave a low growl, remembering the chip Bayvin had given him. “He wants to capture the ship intact. Kergan must have discovered I have the data chip. He must have spies on Gothow Prime.”
The ship shook again, and they heard a loud bang in the rear compartment. Again, the ship shook as more energy bolts weakened Aidan’s shields.
“Hull breach,” Aunt Máire reported. “Main cabin. Force field has sealed it off.”
“I’ve got to get us out of here,” Aidan replied between clenched teeth.
The ship took another hit. Aidan saw an orange light flashing.
“Interdimensional has been compromised.”
“We can’t escape!” Tetia sounded on the verge of panic.

ADDICTION OF POWER
The importance of family carries over into this fourth book. Liam is older. His daughters are now middle-aged. His son, Aidan, is a veteran fighter pilot. The fourth daughter that Liam and his wife Celinia conceived in the third book, Tetia, is in her teens and planning to follow her mother’s path as a priestess and healer.
In Addiction of Power, Aidan O'Connor agrees to deliver information to Finnian Intelligence while on a trip with his great aunt Máire and sister Tetia, when Kergan the Rebel leader attacks their ship. Aidan escapes with his family and is befriended by a war criminal Marissa and her daughter Gayla, introduced in the previous novel, assisting them in the surmounting power struggle. This starts everyone on a journey to end the civil war. Factions on both sides of the conflict must wrestle with the implications of peace: an end to the bloodshed versus losing power. It also plants the seeds for threats from beyond the Milky Way galaxy.
